While most of us look forward to the long, lazy days of summer, few enjoy the constant chore of keeping unwanted body hair at bay. If you tend to shun summer attire because you are uncomfortable with your body hair, Incredible Veins, Skin and Body has the solution for you. Now is the perfect time to schedule your laser hair removal procedure so you can greet summer in smooth style.
How does it Work?
Laser hair removal is performed on an outpatient basis, and may take anywhere from fifteen minutes to one hour or more depending on the size of area to be treated. The duration of the procedure depends mainly on the size of the treatment area. Laser treatment may be performed on nearly any area of the body with unwanted hair, including:
- Face (upper lip, chin)
- Bikini line
The procedure uses intense pulses of laser light to damage hair follicles, so current hair falls out and new hair has difficulty growing. We use a Zimmer chiller to ensure patient comfort. Most patients are able to return to regular activities immediately after treatment. Sun exposure is usually discouraged for a few days after treatment.
Who is it For?
Since the laser targets the melanin (dark pigment in the hair shaft), this treatment tends to work best on patients with lighter skin and darker hair. Patients with blonde, grey or red hair do not respond well to laser hair removal.
How Long will it Last?
Laser hair removal targets hair follicles during the growth phase, which usually includes about one-third of all the follicles in the treatment area. Multiple sessions are recommended to ensure the best possible results. Sessions need to be spaced out to allow for new hair growth to occur. Once desired results are achieved, touch-up sessions may only be needed every few years to maintain results.
Now is the time to begin your laser hair removal treatments in order to see positive results by the time summer arrives. To learn more about this procedure, or schedule your personal consultation with Dr. Ebrahimi, contact the office of Incredible Veins, Skin and Body at 818-423-5828.
